Interesting Wallpaper
by NeonMadman inmy wife and i live in a small town in northern new jersey.
there is a building near our house that, many decades ago, used to be the local post office.
it sat idle for many years, but a couple of years ago, some folks bought it and renovated it into a nice little cafe.

Proof indeed that Rutherford was crazy, and JWs have no idea of the lies told, covered up, buried, forgotten.... all in a nice sweet, "It's all good" package. -

Use of Tablets During Meeting
by Simon Templar inas i seem to remember, in april 2010 i bought one of the first ipads.
i saw the virtue of using it immediately.
it was wifi.

Funny, SimonT.... the same exact thing happened at our hall... "No tablets, that's worldly"..... then "surprise!" .... it's "ok"..... and as another thread you are made to feel guilty if you are 'not keeping up' with Jehovah's Chariot... that fast moving organization!
PS, my sister's hall had a School servant like yours... he would hold up the ipad to show "time is up"!

New Spiritually Weak Label: Not Using Tablet/iPhone
by Doubtfully Yours inwith last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.
damn it!!!
am i alone in this resistance???!!!.

Those things cost money!
What if you can't afford them? hmmm? I thought it was "materialistic" to acquire "things"?
I really do NOT like the WT..... Guilt, guilt, guilt..... That is what they thrive on.
Resist, do not bend, just laugh when you hear them being frustrated!

“Even if this wasn’t the Truth, I need the structure.”
by Londo111 ini remember many years back a fellow ministerial servant saying this to me.
he felt that even if jehovah’s witnesses were not the only true religion, the regimented routine of meetings and field service and the strict rules and enforcement provided a beneficial structure for his life.
at the time i thought if this wasn’t “the truth”, i’d have no need for all that “structure”.

So sorry, Doubtfully Yours..... Perhaps someday the WT empire will fall.... your life will return, hang in there.
Well wishes, cha ching!

The "apostacy stigmatisation" of doing research!
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that the way the society has stigmatised the doing of external research by witnesses, and labelling any such questioning as "apostate", is tragic.. no doubt, in every other aspect of life, we research things before making decisions.
eg, if making a purchase, we go online and check reviews etc to check the product out.
we don't just trust the words of the marketing department.

Thx for the quotes, sowhatnow!
Yes, millions of persons have been shocked to learn that things they were taught as being vital for salvation are now considered by their church to be wrong...... Can we say "type/ anti-type" "Stay alive till 75?" "Before the end of the century we will see the fullfilment of God's kingdom ruling"
especially this one:
But in Jehovah’s organization it is not necessary to spend a lot of time and energy in research, for there are brothers in the organization who are assigned to that very thing
Like you said: "Well, I guess its all just a big social club now, an excuse to dress up"
I had a brother/ elder tell me this directly, when I told him I liked his tie/outfit... in a hushed, blushedy snicker, "You know, I just looooove dressin' up!"
Yep, dressin' up!

so true, StuckinaRut2! I always wondered "how does the Society get to look things up in "worldly sources". quote them, and decide which to use, or not to use.
Let's just say, "double standards" and "hypocrites."

Awesome, Londo!!!! I am so happy for you! From 310 to 190?!!! Wow! A girlfriend? Marriage? happy? ;-) That is great!
I think that, perhaps, for some people (not me) the WT creates "structure"... (They certainly provide a hamster wheel) Why can't something else create structure? Join a club, a gym, a 'cause', school? college? a "help other people" thing.....
Being around people is great, having friends is great, I loved that. Now that I have (haha) 'faded'......... zero.... WT has done a good job training everyone to shun. I do not want to get 'structure' from 'blackmailers'.
I enjoy the freedom to go and please as I want.

Watchtower myth: God’s will discerned through committees, not individual leaders
by Londo111 inbe it the governing body, or the a judicial committee of the local elder body, when a two-thirds majority vote is reached, it is viewed as god’s will, as the action of holy spirit, of jesus nudging the stars in his right hand.
[and if i’m not mistaken, the minority is encouraged to change their vote, so that is “unanimous”.
anthony morris alluded to this when he unsuccessfully tried to explain why the governing body is not dogmatic.

Good one, One EyedJoe!
This is the best description yet: "Like an ouija board, not one person feels responsible"
Ironic!! Thx!
